QuickView: Instant, Customizable Access to Key Patient Data Fields
QuickView provides healthcare professionals quick access to specific data fields of a patient, allowing providers to easily gather crucial information into a single viewing window. This enables swift and accurate decision-making by reducing the time spent navigating through different sections of the electronic medical record.
Example Uses:
A nutritionist might leverage QuickView to instantly access a patient’s recent weight, dietary notes, and BMI without having to navigate through various sections of the EMR, thereby streamlining patient assessment and consultation.
An HIV specialist creating a QuickView might select data fields like the patient’s most recent viral load, CD4 count, and current ART regimen, consolidating pivotal details for efficient clinical review.
A physician might utilize a QuickView to rapidly review a patient’s allergy status, medication side effects, and recent lab results to swiftly make informed therapeutic decisions during a consultation.
Creating and Editing a QuickView
- Starting the QuickView Editor
- Navigate to the Main menu by clicking the emrXL logo located at the upper left.
- Select “QuickView Setup” on the left side of the main menu.
- Creating a New QuickView
- Once inside QuickView Setup, click “Create New Quickview”.
- Specify a unique name and a useful description for the QuickView you are creating, to allow for easy identification and shared understanding among providers.
- Press the “Continue” button.
- Populating QuickView with Relevant Data Fields
- The data selection area on the left side of the screen shows all of the service lines, categorized as General, Clinical, and Psychosocial Support.
- The right side of the screen contains a list of data fields that you have selected from the list of data fields.
- Find and select a service line related to the data field(s) of interest (example: “TRIAGE” for height and weight).
- Click on the desired data fields, which will then populate on the right side, indicating their inclusion in the QuickView.
- Remove any unwanted data fields by clicking the “X” next to them.
- Saving the QuickView
- Once satisfied with the data fields included, click “SAVE” to preserve the QuickView setup.
Utilizing QuickView in Patient Chart Review
- Accessing QuickView
- In the patient chart, click the QuickView icon in the top right side of the patient’s timeline summary (at the right side of the patient’s name)
- Choose the relevant QuickView from the available list.
- Instant Data Retrieval
- The selected QuickView displays pertinent data fields for immediate reference.
- Exploring Historical Data
- To view the historical data of a specific field, click the data field label (this works the same way as other areas of emrXL).
- A window will open, showing all past entries for that data field. This allows providers to review historical trends or patterns.
